- What kind of equipment do you use? I shoot with Canon SLR camera bodies and a variety of lenses. You can check out my list of equipment here.
- How do I book you for my wedding day? Send your inquiry through this form. After I receive it, we will talk about the details of your day and how you think I may fit in. Then I’ll have you fill out the prospective clients form and I’ll work up a contract for you. To book me for your day, I’ll need a signed contract and a $500 retainer fee.
- Do you travel? Yes! I love to travel! All wedding packages include travel within the state of Virginia (for 2 trips: a pre-wedding portrait session and wedding day travel). I am available to travel worldwide for an additional fee.
- I’ve signed the contract and paid the retainer, now what? I love to personalize the wedding photography experience for each of my clients and it begins as soon as you have booked your wedding with me. I’ll have you fill out the getting to know you survey. I use your answers to this survey to brainstorm ideas for your engagement session.
- Where should we do our engagement session? This is different for each couple. We will brainstorm ideas for your session location together.
- Do you eat at the reception? Where will you sit? My assistant and I will have been working without a break prior to the reception on your wedding day and we politely ask that two meals be provided for us (three if you hire a second photographer) during the reception dinner. Where we eat is up to you. Sometimes we sit at a vendor table in the same room as your reception and sometimes we eat in an area away from the reception. However, given the option, we do prefer to eat in the same room if possible so that we are sure not to miss any spontaneous photographic moments during dinner.
- How long after the wedding/session will we receive our images? You will receive a sneak peek of your wedding images within 10 days of your wedding. Your online gallery will be online within 30 days of your wedding. For engagement or bridal sessions, the turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks.
- What is the difference between a color-corrected image and a final image? And what can we expect on our disc of wedding images? This is a great question! All wedding clients receive a disc of color-corrected images of their wedding day. All portrait clients receive final edited images of their portrait session. In addition, clients that order prints or a wedding album can expect their print and album images to be touched up to final image quality before they leave the studio. Wedding albums also include a disc of all final images included in the album. For a visual explanation of the difference between a color corrected image and a final image, see below:

- How long have you been a wedding photographer? 2011 is my 5th year in business as a wedding photographer.
- How many weddings do you shoot a year? In 2011 I will be shooting 20 weddings. I plan to book only 10 weddings in in 2012 and after. I am limiting the number of weddings I book in 2012 due to our upcoming arrival.
- Who is your assistant? My sister, Jacqulyn, is my assistant at all weddings. I love working with her and you will learn that she is an important part of SLP. She will bring her own camera to your wedding but you will see her put it down at times to assist me.
- What are your office hours? I typically work in the office Tue-Fri from 9am – 5pm. You can expect email responses and any phone or skype meetings to happen during this time. If you need to get in touch with me outside of office hours, I encourage all of my clients to call or text me any time.
